Privacy policy

In short: you don’t have an account with us, we don’t track you and we don’t use ad networks. Here is exactly what happens to which data.

Effective from 5 October 2026.

Who runs IslaBu

IslaBu – the iOS and Android apps and the website islabu.app – is run by inBee, s.r.o., company ID (IČO) 09213767, Radlická 2343/48, Smíchov, 150 00 Prague 5, Czech Republic, the controller of the data described below. You can reach us at info@inb.ee.

What we don’t do

  • No user accounts – nothing to sign up for, nothing to log in to.
  • No ad networks, no third-party ad code, no targeted ads.
  • No analytics or tracking – we don’t know who you are and we don’t follow you across websites and apps.
  • No tracking cookies.
  • We don’t sell your data or hand it to anyone for marketing.

When you use IslaBu

The apps and the website get their data from our API at api.islabu.app. The server keeps technical logs (IP address, time and the requested address). We use them only to run the service and keep it secure – finding bugs and preventing abuse – and keep them only as long as necessary. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in running the service safely.

The website islabu.app runs on Vercel, which processes the same technical data to deliver the pages.

Location

We use your location only if you allow it. It is sent with the request so we can work out distances to beaches and find the nearest places and connections. We don’t store it. You can withdraw the permission at any time in your phone or browser settings.

What stays on your device

Settings (island, language, interests), favourite beaches, private notes and the last downloaded data, so IslaBu works without signal too. None of this is sent to us. The exception is interests: we send them with the request so recommendations fit, but we don’t store them.

Ratings and reports

When you rate a beach or place for the first time, a random ID is created on your device. The server stores only a fingerprint (hash) of it, together with your rating – stars, tags or reports such as “jellyfish”. We don’t store your name, e-mail or IP address with ratings. Others only see a summary.

The ID lets you change your rating later and helps us prevent abuse. Ratings never change beach scores.

Write to us

When you write to us via “Write to us” or by e-mail, we have the text of your message (for the form, also the page you wrote from) and your contact details if you include them. We use them only to reply and to sort out what you wrote about.

Data sources

Weather, sea, warnings and maps come from public sources – AEMET, Open-Meteo, Copernicus, OpenStreetMap and others. We don’t send them any data about you.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access your data, have it corrected or erased, restrict its processing and object to it. Just write to info@inb.ee.

You can lodge a complaint with the Czech Office for Personal Data Protection (ÚOOÚ, uoou.gov.cz) or with the supervisory authority in your country.

Changes

If we change this policy, you’ll find the new version here with a new date.
